Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla attended the gathering of the US governors and there addressed the problem of artificial intelligence. He said that AI poses dangers that require government oversight. Without limiting, artificial intelligence can become very challenging to human civilization.

“On the artificial intelligence front, I have access to the very most cutting edge AI, and I think people should be really concerned about it,” he said in a session with Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval. “I keep sounding the alarm bell but until people see like, robots going down the street killing people, they don’t know how to react because it seems so ethereal.”

He than continued by explaining a scenario where a “deep intelligence” is creating fake news and sends out stuff via fake email accounts. He warned that activity like this can lead to false information flood or even armed conflict.

He also mentioned that advancing AI could lead to job losses and thus induce social instability. He said that transportation industry employees will most likely feel the first hit, as AI could replace 4.6 million jobs currently held by humans.

Entrepreneur said that having a regular car in two decades won’t be normal, it would be like riding a horse now, he said.Non-autonomous car will become past. Musk also warned that convenience will come at the price of the very real risk of fleet-wide vehicle hacks.

He reasoned his demand for government regulation by explaining that is the only way to slow down and regulate the production, as the market is constantly pushing companies to continue developing.

Musk said that even worse is the fact that bunch of big companies that are making AI are accountable to shareholders for failing to advance.

In this moment, the most important thing to do is to keep learning about AI as much as possible, and about th treat it poses to our civilization. As example he brought up the Google DeepMind and it’s progress in learning the game of Go. It rocketed from square one to gaining the ability to eviscerate dozens of the game’s top minds in under a year.

Elon Musk, inventor and entrepreneur is long known for his urgent warnings about the threats and dangers of AI if left uncontrolled. But that risk did not stop him from connecting human brain to AI software. In his speech, held at the National Governor’s Association in Providence, Rhode Island, he also said that his idea of colonizing Mars is slightly motivated by the fact that something like this could happen if AI is left unchecked, and human would need other residence.
